ToolShare Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information ToolShare ("we," "us") collects when you use the ToolShare website and app, how we use it, and your choices. ToolShare is operated by Macy Kirkland, doing business as ToolShare. Questions: [email protected].
What we collect
- Account information: your email address, name or display name, and password (stored securely in hashed form by our authentication provider).
- Listings and photos: the tools you list, descriptions, prices, deposits, and photos you upload.
- Approximate location: the city, ZIP code, or approximate location you give for a listing, used to show tools on the map. If you allow location access, your device's location is used to show tools near you.
- Messages: messages you send to other users through the app.
- Booking data: rental dates, amounts, fees, deposits, booking status, and reviews.
How we use it
To run ToolShare: create your account, show listings, connect renters and owners, process bookings and payouts, provide support, prevent fraud and misuse, and enforce our Terms of Service.
Payments
Payments and payouts are handled by Stripe. ToolShare does not see or store your full card or bank account numbers. Stripe's use of your information is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
Hosting
Your account, listings, photos, messages, and booking data are stored with Supabase, our database and hosting provider. The website is served through Cloudflare.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that run ToolShare (such as Stripe and Supabase), with other users as needed for a rental (for example, an owner sees the renter's name and booking details), or when required by law.
Your choices
You can update your account information in the app. To delete your account or ask what data we have about you, email [email protected]. We may keep some records, such as payment records, when the law requires it.
Children
ToolShare is not for anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you through the app or by email.
